Dr. Lipman Funds Uterine Fibroid and Uterine Artery Embolization Research Via SIR Foundation

Dr. Lipman gave a significant donation to the SIR Foundation, honoring two IR pioneers and pushing uterine fibroid research forward. The contribution will fund the new Dr. Scott C. Goodwin Uterine Artery Embolization Grant for four years and the Dr. James B. Spies Global Summit on Uterine Fibroid and Adenomyosis Research for five years. Atlanta Fibroid Center was once again proud to sponsor Sounds of Good Medicine with proceeds benefitting the Family Health Centers of Georgia (FHCGA). FHCGA provide much needed healthcare services to medically underserved communities in Atlanta. Sounds of Good Medicine is their signature fundraising event. Over 50,000 patient visits were done last year alone. They have been serving Atlanta since 1975.

Atlanta Fibroid Center sponsors SSPF signature event, “The All White Party”, which celebrated the life and memory of SiMan Baby and the kickoff off his Stay Positive Foundation. The event took place at Monticello and included numerous radio personalities, executives, and other dignitaries. SiMan was inducted into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame in 2018 and earlier this year he received the Phoenix Award from former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms for his “indelible impression on the city.”

Atlanta Fibroid Center was a proud sponsor of the Celebration of Excellence Gala to benefit 100 Black Men of South Metro Atlanta. This year’s event was held at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel & Convention Center with the keynote address delivered by Dr. Michael Eric Dyson. News anchor Aisha Howard and Media Executive Michelle Taylor Willis were the Emcees for the Gala. The gala raises funds for the Rites of Passage Academy Program which targets male students in grades 8-12 and exposes them to mentors who provide important life skills, leadership development, college preparedness, and more.

Dr. Lipman & MSM to Start Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund to Honor Longtime Friend SiMan Baby Alexander

Last evening, Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) hosted the 12th annual Hugh M. Gloster Society celebration. This is MSM’s signature fundraising event. It established its first comprehensive campaign, IMPACT: The World Needs What We Do Best. During the festivities it was announced by Harvey Green, Senior Vice President for the Office of Institutional Advancement, that through a generous donation by Dr. Lipman, a pancreatic cancer research fund will begin at MSM in honor of his longtime friend and “brother from another mother”, Silas SiMan Baby Alexander. SiMan’s wife Sandra joined Dr. Lipman at the event.

Dr. Lipman Provides Key Funding For Hosea Helps Brand New Facility

Yesterday was the 50th Anniversary and Grand Opening of the Hosea Helps brand new facility. Hosea Helps found itself in need of a new facility in 2017. Since that time efforts were made to find a newer and larger facility to help even more people as demand has outstripped its ability to help those in need. However, funds for their new 24,000-square-foot facility on Forest Hills Drive in southwest Atlanta came up short. Following a chance encounter at a Concerned Black Clergy meeting, Dr. Lipman stepped in and provided the necessary funds. Dr. Lipman was asked about his generous donation and had this to say, “I had the privilege of knowing Hosea Williams and have admired Elisabeth and Ofemo’s work in continuing his legacy. They not only provide food, but also essential life skills and support. It is not a handout, but a hand-up. I have been very blessed in my life and I am at a point where I can help others and I’ll continue to do so whenever I can.”

Atlanta Fibroid Center Provides Sanitary Napkins to Homeless Women Via Project U First

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, Project U First has distributed more than 16,000 love bags that contain health and hygiene products the homeless do not have easy access to. “If our homeless are not clean and they don’t have the things that they need, it is definitely going to affect our environment,” Wright said. In-kind donations see the non-profit through. It recently received a donation from the Atlanta Fibroid Center that will provide sanitary napkins to Project U First for the rest of 2020.
